This research note presents STL Partners’ forecast for the number of active private network sites over a 7-year period. It details site numbers across seven regions and acts as a complement to our Private network market forecast 2024–2030.

Private network sites set for significant growth by the decade-end

In a follow-up from our Private network market forecast by 2030, we continue our research into this realm by providing our underlying expectations for the total number of sites by the end of the current decade.

This bite-sized research note is founded on our prognosis that the growing number of private network deployments will push the addressable market to USD21 billion by 2030.

Total private network addressable revenue, 2024–2030

  • We published the second release of our private network market forecast in May 2025. In it, we identify a total addressable market for private networks that stood at USD1 billion in 2024, growing to USD21 billion in 2030.
  • The biggest driver for growth over this period will be the number of private network deployments. Penetration is currently low and will grow significantly over the forecast period, although beyond 2030, we still expect remarkable further growth potential.
  • This research note explores in more detail the private network site numbers that underlie this addressable revenue opportunity.

According to our latest findings, there were just under 3,000 private networks deployed by the end of 2024. We expect the CAGR at which site numbers will rise to be lower than the rate at which overall addressable revenue will grow in the examined period to 2030. It may seem counterintuitive, because it indicates that by 2030, the cost per site will be going up.
