Defining the future telco — and what it means for operators and their partners

SMBs: How telcos should approach them

SMBs are embracing 5G, cloud, and automation but face hurdles such as security, integration complexity, and resource limitations. This report examines how telcos can meet SMBs’ demands for seamless, secure, and manageable solutions, positioning themselves as integral partners in SMBs’ digital transformation journey.

Industry survey: Understanding network edge demand

There is much debate in the industry on the topic of telco edge computing, but little clarity for players within the telecom industry and potential customers on how much capacity will be available.
In this report, we provide insights from our annual industry survey on the state of network edge, including the key triggers for deployments.

Super apps: An attractive, yet elusive opportunity

Many have tried to capture the elusive opportunities in the super apps domain, but very few are succeeding. This playbook examines the different approaches to super apps and offers valuable recommendations to telcos that aim to pursue opportunities in this area.

Quantum technologies: Strategic paths for telcos

With quantum technologies touching on many areas of telco business, it can be unclear where telcos should make early investments. However, there are some common priorities for telcos – and by considering a small number of strategic perspectives, decisions on next steps can be made.

Achieving next-level network autonomy

Implementing autonomous networks offers an average CSP cost savings and annual revenue uplift of around US$794 million. However, challenges impede progress to realise this financial potential. This report addresses five of the main obstacles faced by CSPs and provides recommendations to help overcome them.

AWS, Azure and Google Cloud: Who’s got the edge?

This report analyses the edge computing strategies of the ‘big three’ cloud providers – Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. We assess how successful they have been at developing solutions across the edge continuum, including on-premise, network and regional edge, and determine who leads this nascent market.

Telco Cloud Deployment Tracker Q2 2024: Is AWS winning in hyperscale telco cloud?

Telco cloud deployment activity slowed down in Q2 2024 with only 20 deployments added to the tracker, eight of which were completed in earlier years. The remaining 12 included five 5G NSA cores (four already launched) and three SA cores, all of which we expect to go live by the end of 2024. In this report we analyse the prospects for 5G SA including a deep-dive on the state of deployments on the public cloud.

Partnering for telco growth

Partnering offers telcos a way to unlock innovation and uncover monetisation opportunities to help fuel business growth. However, this requires telcos to embrace a different approach to partnering strategy and a more open, trusting mindset.
