Mobile operators have used intelligence in their networks and OSS for a while. What has changed recently is how new techniques (e.g., generative AI and/or agentic AI) can be applied, often on top of traditional methods, to accelerate the use of AI in the network domain and move telcos along their journey to higher levels of network autonomy. This forecast estimates the value for vendors of selling AI-enabled solutions to mobile operators to support their network and OSS processes.
In this report we update our model of the financial value of adding AI, analytics and automation (A3) into a telco’s processes. The focus of this update is the network and OSS. In these domains, our bottom-up assessment shows that telcos can achieve financial benefits amounting to 5% of annual revenues.
Assuring networks, services and devices in the world of 5G, edge and IoT demands new capabilities in automation, AI and analytics (A3) at the edge of networks. This report sets out a roadmap for telco decision making around assurance tool creation, deployment and possible monetisation.
