August 2018: We are seeking a Marketing Communications Manager to develop and grow our marketing strategy across all media.
Reporting to one of three Directors at STL Partners and based in London in the UK, the Marketing Communications Manager will develop the marketing activity for the STL Partners community. This community consists of executives and experts at our partners, prospects and customers within the telecoms, media, and technology industries.
We are seeking a team player who will work with others in the business to ensure that STL Partners has a consistent, optimistic and challenging tone of voice for the telecoms industry as we seek to lead it to a brighter, bolder future. Crucially, we need that voice to be heard by an even larger and more influential community.
The Marketing Communications Manager will develop and grow our communications across all media – Website, email newsletter, other email campaigns, social media (Twitter, LinkedIn), Webinars, PowerPoint and Word presentations, press releases – and beyond as new channels emerge. We would like someone who will both shape existing marketing activities and develop new ones so that we become more effective at reaching decision-makers who buy our research, consulting and events.
The successful candidate will help develop a clear marketing strategy for STL Partners and its lines of business and drive the execution of the strategy across the organisation. They will enhance our engagement with our community and foster dialogue within the community so that STL Partners is seen as insightful, creative, ambitious, challenging, professional and open. They will work with research, consulting and sales to develop appropriate KPIs for the marketing and sales process and contribute to process improvements including marketing automation, targeting, proposition development and testing.
Above all, this would appeal to someone who wants to make a big difference: to us, to our clients and to the industries we work in. For a small organisation, STL Partners is already well-known globally. You are someone who thrives in a dynamic team of interesting and insightful people and you have the passion, enthusiasm and skills to take us to the next level in our marketing activities. To do this, you have the desire and ability to create marketing strategies, structures and processes with limited support – others are ready and willing to help but marketing isn’t their day job!
Ideally, you have a minimum of 2 years’ B2B professional services and/or research/publishing marketing experience where new clients are won after months (or years) of activity and clients retained year after year. The ability to produce your own marketing copy as well as (tactfully!) edit others’ work is important as is the skill to create and measure compelling campaigns across media. We are digital and much of what we do is to help our clients become more digital so skills in digital marketing (SEO, analytics etc.) is a must: email, web, LinkedIn and Twitter currently sit at the heart of what we do; but we could do much more and be much better!
You’ll be a marketing team of one person initially and work directly with a company Director as well as with everyone else in the organisation – sales, consulting, and research to make this happen. We, therefore, want to someone who is friendly, persuasive, positive, energetic and resourceful. As we grow, there will be the opportunity to build a team and work with external agencies.
